Coach Dan Hunt on John: "John has made as many plays here as anybody that I've seen here in my 20 years. He's dependable; a playmaker who really makes the people around him better. I'm sure Jake Melville would tell you he makes him a better quarterback. You get it near him and he catches it. One of the things that you don't realize about John because he's not the biggest guy in the world, is he's about the toughest individual I've ever coached. He's played through a lot of injuries that would take out other kids, and he doesn't complain. He goes and catches the ball over the middle, gets smacked around, gets back up and competes again. He's one of the better competitors we've ever had. His production speakers for itself. You can always look at his numbers, but what makes him special is his ability to make everyone around him better and like everyone, and that's really going to be missed. I know he's going to be successful and we'll have a hard time replacing everything he does."
