Fan Code of Conduct

Colgate University, the Patriot League and the NCAA promote good sporting behavior by student-athletes, coaches and spectators. We encourage support of the entire athletics program by all members of the Colgate community and those visiting our home facilities.

It is expected that all those who attend Colgate Athletics' events are engaging in good sporting behavior and contribute in a positive manner to the department. Colgate Athletics will not tolerate the following at any of its competition venues:
  • Disrespectful fan behavior, including, but not limited to, disorderly conduct or the use of threatening, offensive, and/or abusive language or gestures; 
  • Discriminatory language or conduct, including any racist, sexist, homophobic and/or transphobic conduct towards student-athletes, coaches, officials, staff or other spectators; 
  • Unsafe behavior, such as fighting, throwing objects, entering the playing area (e.g. field, court, bench area, etc.); or 
  • Irresponsible use of alcohol or other substances that causes disruptive behavior to the event, participants, and/or other patrons. 
Any such actions will be considered grounds for removal from the competition venue. In the event of an emergency, unsportsmanlike conduct or suspicious behavior please report to the nearest usher, administrator, or call campus safety at 315-228-7333. If you see something, say something.
