Campus Support & Other Resources

Colgate University offers a wide array of support and resources to all students, as each individual represents an essential part of a tight-knit community who share a common purpose. Though the Athletics Department provides programming and support opportunities to student-athletes through its Student-Athlete Development program, all individuals are encouraged to utilize the resources made available through campus partners as well. A summary of those resources are available below:

On-Campus Resources:

Diversity & Inclusion
  • ALANA Cultural Center: ALANA is a professionally staffed organization and space that supports a wide array of multicultural and inclusive programs and initiatives. ALANA's goal is to help all students develop an appreciation of culture.
    • Offerings: Education & training; cultural programs and initiatives; empowerment and support; community building

  • International Students & Community: The international student community brings additional perspectives and histories to Colgate conversations and practices, both in and out of the classroom. The Office of International Student Services supports these students as they live in a foreign country and navigate the immigration requirements unique to their international status.
    • Offerings: Immigration support (F-1, SEVIS support); Campus experience (cultural adjustment; advocacy; student organizations)

  • LGBTQ+ Community: Colgate's LGBTQ Initiatives office is dedicated to supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and ally students. Initiatives include available Safe Zone trainings for students, faculty, and staff to better understand the needs of the LGBTQ community; an annual Queerfest celebrating and educating the campus about LGBTQ issues; ongoing student advocacy campaigns; and much more.

  • Religious Life: Through the Office of the Chaplains, Colgate students sustain a vibrant religious community open to those of any faith, those questioning faith, and those who identify as atheist. Interfaith initiatives promote education and understanding between these diverse groups.

  • Center for Women's Studies: The Center for Women’s Studies is a multipurpose space where students, faculty, and staff can gather to discuss a multitude of topics spanning the feminist spectrum and consider the intersectionality of identities and various forms of oppression.
Health & Wellness
  • Shaw Wellness Institute: Colgate’s Shaw Wellness Institute, the university's health promotion office, oversees the comprehensive and holistic development of students and the Colgate community.
  • Student Health Services: Student Health Services is committed to providing responsive, confidential, and high-quality medical care in support of Colgate’s diverse student community.
  • Counseling & Psychological Services: Counseling and Psychological Service’s mission is to provide compassionate mental health care and education for all students to support their success at Colgate.

  • Haven - Sexual Violence Survivor Support: Haven is a sexual violence resource center that provides confidential care, support, advocacy, and trauma-informed clinical services for survivors of sexual assault, intimate partner violence, child/family abuse, stalking, and/or harassment, to include online harassment.
