Raiders Wrap Up SB Trip With Thriller

Colgate Completed the the Michael Schonbraun '96 Spring Break Tennis Trip Wednesday With a Thrilling 4-3 Victory Over Babson (Mass.)

PALMAS DEL MAR, Puerto Rico – Colgate Men's Tennis wrapped up the Michael Schonbraun '96 Spring Break Tennis trip Wednesday with a thrilling 4-3 victory over Babson (Mass.).
 
The Raiders captured all three doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead before Bobby Alter (6-3, 6-1) and Win Reynolds (6-3, 6-1) won their respective singles matches to stretch the Colgate lead to 3-0.
 
The Beavers would battle back, claiming the singles matches in the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 slots to tie the match at 3-3 and setup a winner-take-all between Nick Laub and Babson junior Victor Vu at number three singles.  
 
Laub won the opening set, 6-4, but Vu rallied to take the second set 7-5, and twice had opportunities to serve for the match leading 5-4 and 6-5 in the decisive third set. Laub broke Vu's serve on both occasions and then went on to win the tiebreak to seal the match with a 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (7-4) result.
