Raiders Suffer Two-Loss Weekend

Colgate closes out regular season at home on Sunday

MARYLAND - Men's tennis dropped two conference matches this weekend to Loyola and Navy.

Colgate battled against Loyola on Saturday in a tennis match that saw both teams put up a strong fight. Colgate dropped the doubles point after falling in two matches. At No. 1 doubles, Aidan Chung and Tim Viding were defeated by Nick Lawliss and Ryan Gill, 6-1. The No. 2 doubles pair of Tim Vargas and Parker McGowan also fell to Petter Hagen and Louis Moldenhauer, 6-1. The Raiders secured a win at No. 3 doubles, where Aidan Lee and Witt Bulger triumphed over Cyrus Shivkumar and Dylan Koziol, 6-2.

In singles play, Colgate's Aidan Lee put the team on the board with a straight-set victory at No. 2 singles, defeating Louis Moldenhauer 6-3, 6-2. Vargas followed with a tense three-set win at No. 4 singles, overcoming Blake Edwards 7-5, 4-6, 7-6. McGowan contributed another point at No. 6 singles with a 6-4, 7-6 victory over Dylan Coonerty, bringing the dual score closer.

Despite these efforts, the Greyhounds secured the overall win with victories in other singles matches. At No. 1 singles, Petter Hagen defeated Lochlan Seth 6-4, 6-2. Loyola's Ryan Gill edged Bulger in a three-set match at No. 3 singles, 3-6, 7-6, 6-0. Finally, Nick Lawliss sealed the match at No. 5 singles with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Chung. The final dual score was 4-3 in favor of Loyola.

On Sunday, Navy secured the doubles point against Colgate by winning at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles. At No. 1 doubles, Herrick Legaspi and Charlie Spencer defeated Aidan Chung and Tim Viding, 6-2. The doubles point was clinched when J.J. Etterbeek and Tommy Kim overcame Witt Bulger and Aidan Lee, 6-2, at No. 3 doubles. The No. 2 doubles match featuring Parker McGowan and Tim Vargas against Aniketh Ayinala and Jake Young was left unfinished at 5-2 in Navy's favor.

In singles action, Navy extended its lead with a series of straight-set victories. At No. 3 singles, Charlie Spencer defeated Tim Vargas, 6-0, 6-3. Jake Young followed at No. 5 singles, securing a 6-2, 6-2 win over Parker McGowan. Herrick Legaspi clinched the match for Navy at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 7-5 victory over Aidan Lee, bringing the dual score to 4-0.

Navy continued its winning streak with Aniketh Ayinala's 6-3, 6-3 win over Witt Bulger at No. 2 singles. At No. 6 singles, J.J. Etterbeek edged out Adam Fink, 6-1, 7-5. Finally, at No. 4 singles, Tommy Kim closed the day with a 7-5, 7-5 decision against Aidan Chung, concluding the match on Sunday with a final score of 7-0 in favor of Navy.

The Raiders close out the regular season with a Heart Awareness and Senior Day match against University of Rochester on Sunday, April 19.
