Men's Tennis Heads to Patriot League Championships

Raiders will take on Navy on Friday

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The seventh-seeded Raiders head to Bethlehem, Pa. for the 2026 Patriot League Men's Tennis Championships taking place from April 23-26.

Colgate enters the weekend as a seventh seed for the first time in program history and will take on second-seeded Navy. The Raiders last met the Mids in postseason play back in the 2020-21 COVID season when Navy got the better of Colgate in the Patriot League Semifinals.

"Definitely a frustrating seed for a frustrating season. We have never been lower than the sixth seed which we've always taken extreme pride in. We had so many near misses this year in the league with three conference matches all coming down to a point," Coach Pennington said. "I'm hoping the guys can try to rally and play their most complete match of the year as that's what it's gonna take to beat a high-level team like Navy."

Colgate secured its fourth home win of the season on Sunday against Rochester and earned its first undefeated home season since the 2009-10 season when they went 3-0.

"We finished 7-12 in the regular season, but we lost six matches where we had opportunities to win. If we can learn from those matches it would be a big lesson for the younger guys," Coach Pennington added. "We were undefeated at home this year, which was very impressive. Tim Vargas led the team in wins in singles and we played outstanding doubles."

Should the Raiders defeat Navy, they will take on the winner of No. 3 Army West Point and No. 6 Loyola on Saturday at 3 p.m.
