VERONA, N.Y. (4/2/11) – The Colgate women tennis dropped its second Patriot League match of the season as Raiders fell, 6-1, to Bucknell at Turning Stone Resort.

Colgate (3-11, 0-2 PL) got one win in the doubles action as captain Stephanie Bender and Jen Marquit won at the second spot as the Bison retired with the Raiders up 6-3 in the match. Bucknell won the doubles point with win at the top spot and third spot.

The Bison won the first five singles matches to win the decision after jumping out to a 6-0 lead. Three of the six singles matches went three sets. Alex Petrini and Kelsey Shea won their first sets at the second and third spots, respectively, but fell in the final two. Captain Stephanie Brown battled in her match. After dropping the first set by a 6-2 score, she took the second at 6-4. She then came up short in the final set with a 6-2 loss.

Rookie Becky Silvers won in the sixth position with an 8-3 pro-set win as the match was already decided when she took the court.

Colgate is back in action on Sunday morning as the Raiders take on Lafayette at Turning Stone Resort.
