Coach Hunt on Max: "He played through a lot coming back from the knee surgery and I'm really glad he did for a lot of reasons. But most importantly, it's just nice watching him play football again. He's just the anchor of our offensive line and he's been a great captain. He's done it twice, so you know you have to be a great captain. He does what needs to be done both on and off the field in talking to his teammates. He's a joy to be around and he makes practice fun, but he also knows when to flip the switch and become a mean guy on the field who gets things done. Obviously, when you have a fifth-year senior as your center, he's touching the ball every play and you can't think of a better guy to have it in his hands every play than him."

Including opening win at No. 23 Cal Poly ... Part of offensive line unit that sparked Raiders to 185.3 rushing yards per game, tops in Patriot League ... 10th time in last 11 years Raiders led Patriot League in rushing ... Colgate also allowed just 25 quarterback sacks, fewest in conference ... Led Patriot League and ranked 15th nationally with 32:34 time of possession average.
Coach Hunt on Max: "Max is the heart and soul of the offensive line. He is someone who plays football the right way. He is physical, he'll hit you, he'll play to the echo of the whistle -- and then he also is a great leader. He's got the personality of the offensive line and says what needs to be said. He represents the program extremely well off campus and in the community. For him to tear his ACL against Furman and then actually play two weeks later in a game – you just don't hear of something like that very often. He allowed a brace and tape to be his ACL and he played, and he continued to make himself available to play. You say you want guys who love football; that's a guy who loves football. For him to say he's going to get the surgery and come back and play next year, take his fifth year, that's a guy you want around. If you have a Max Hartzman around, you have a chance because he's got his priorities right. He attacks the game the right way and he makes people around him better. What more do you want?"
