Raiders Defeat Dolphins 4-0

SYRACUSE - The Colgate Men's Tennis team swept the Le Moyne Dolphins on Friday afternoon, winning 4-0 to improve to 4-4 on the season. The Raiders won the doubles point, then singles wins from senior captain Aidan Lee at line two, senior captain Aidan Chung at line four, and sophomore Wesley Nichols gave Colgate the victory.

"Another great win for the ball club overall today to get to 4-4 on the year and just a couple points away from 6-2," said Head Coach Bobby Pennington. "We won one and two doubles to set the tone and then credit to Wesley Nichols for coming in strong today at number six, along with Aidan Chung and Mr. Lee rounding it out to get the win. We are definitely getting our form back and looking stronger and stronger each match. It was a total complete team effort with everybody contributing today and we're hungry for a very solid Binghamton team tomorrow, where we will compete like Dobermans."

Action began with doubles, where the Raiders drew first blood, courtesy of junior Parker McGowan and first-year Tim Vargas, who won 6-4 at line two. The Dolphins were able to fire back with a 7-5 win at line three over first-year Adam Fink and senior captain John Fazli, but Chung and sophomore Tim Viding were able to clinch the point with a 7-6(5) win at line one.

The Raiders started off singles action hot, where they won all six first sets. Nichols added onto the lead, winning 6-3, 6-1 at line six. Lee and Chung followed shortly after, with Lee winning 6-2, 6-4 at line two, and Chung 6-3, 6-4 at line four. Sophomore Lochlan Seth was up 6-4, 5-4 at line one when play was called, as well as first-year Witt Bulger and junior Jerome Falcon, who were both winning their third sets at the finish.

The Raiders return to action on Saturday, where they will travel to Binghamton to take on the Bearcats at 6 p.m.
