Raiders Compete in Colgate Invitational

Nichols and Vargas take home doubles title

HAMILTON - The Colgate men's tennis team competed in the Second Annual Colgate Invitational this weekend at the J.W. Abrahamson Tennis Courts. The Raiders had a very successful weekend, as action took place with a flighted draw format, where the squad competed against Le Moyne and Siena. Colgate ended the weekend with senior captain Aidan Lee finishing as a finalist of the A Draw singles, junior Parker McGowan also finaling in the B Draw, and most notably first-year Tim Vargas and sophomore Wesley Nichols taking home the B Draw doubles title. 

COACH PENNINGTON'S COMMENTS
"Overall, a hell of a weekend of tennis between three evenly matched teams. The highlights of the weekend were Aidan Lee getting into the finals of the A draw, Parker McGowan making the finals of the B flight, and lastly Wesley Nichols and Tim Vargas winning the B flight in doubles. Also, thanks to all the supporters who came out. It was packed on Saturday and a great energy to plan our campus Courts. I'd say overall we've had a very productive fall. We've been a little banged up and injured for sure, but with our culture,depth, and energy, I think the spring will be absolutely electric. We are looking forward to the Patriot League tournament this weekend at Lehigh to close out the fall season, and then we will be recuperating, then training hard for our primary season in the spring."
