Colgate Wins Second-Straight Duel

Raiders prevail over Rider at home, 5-2

Box Score SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Colgate men's tennis put together its first win streak of the season with a 5-2 victory over Rider on Friday afternoon at Drumlins Country Club. Benito Vlassis and Josh Israel collected two wins each across doubles and singles action, and both now sport two-match win streaks in singles play.

"My god did the boys need and deserve a close win against a quality ballclub after countless heartbreakers," head coach Bobby Pennington said. "Rider beat us last year so this shows the growth. Doubles set the tone then our top three pulled out battles as well as five singles. That's two in a row and we are starting to find our physical and mental groove and swagger. Bring on Binghamton!"

The doubles point fell Colgate's way with Vlassis/Israel winning their third-straight match on court one, 6-1. Aidan Lee/Parker McGowan also extended their win streak to three in third doubles, claiming a 7-6 victory.

The Raiders swept the top three singles slots with wins from Vlassis (6-2, 7-6), Israel (7-6, 6-3), and Graham (0-6, 7-6, 6-4). After losses on four and six, Jerome Falcon clinched the duel for Colgate after beating the Broncs, 6-4, 6-0, in singles five.
