LORETO, Pa. – Tejas Gupta picked up his first win in 2024 and
Mikey Weitz added his third of the Spring in Colgate's 5-2 loss at St. Francis.
"I really feel for our men's team," head coach Bobby Pennington said. "It's a total Murphy's Law situation, every possible thing that could have gone wrong has. Heartbreaking losses, our number one guy out with injury, wild teams playing their best against us, separate venues and times, you name it. If the men make it out unscathed and stronger and play much more clutch they will be hardened and seasoned beyond comprehension. We will try to get on the hard courts more at Drumlins to practice and be prepared for next weekend."
After being sidelined by an injury midway through Saturday's loss at Duquesne, Benito Vlassis battled tough in first doubles with partner Josh Israel, but could not pull out a win.
On court three of doubles action, John Fazli/Aidan Chung moved their record to 3-1 as a duo this Spring with a 7-6 victory.
The Raiders were swept in singles one through four but did not go down without a fight.
Weitz grinded out a 6-7, 6-3, 16-14 triumph in fifth singles while Gupta collected his first win of the Spring in a 6-4, 6-2 victory.
