Box Score BROOKVILLE, N.Y. – The men's tennis team came up short at Long Island University on Saturday, falling to the Sharks, 5-2. Benito Vlassis (7-5, 6-4) and Mikey Weitz (6-4, 6-1) picked up wins on singles two and five, respectively, but it was not enough to stop the surging Sharks on the road. 

"It was truly a heartbreaker and beyond brutal, frustrating loss for the men," Head Coach Bobby Pennington said. "We had ample chances to win that match as we virtually split the singles. It shows just how important the doubles is as we narrowly lost that and ended up costing us the match. Credit to Vlassis, Weitz and Falcon for battling hard. We have to sure up the doubles and middle of our lineup for LeMoyne and Villanova." 

Vlassis and partner Josh Israel kicked off the duel with a 6-3 win, but it would be the only victory in doubles play for the Raiders after Ben Graham/Aidan Lee and Mikey Weitz/Tejas Gupta were both beaten, 6-3. 

Israel fell in first singles, and the Raiders fell behind 3-0 after Lee could not triumph on court three. 
Graham was defeated in the clincher (6-1, 6-1) before Vlassis and Weitz were able to put two points on the board for Colgate with their victories. 

First-year Jerome Falcon took his opponent to three sets in singles six, but ultimately fell 5-7, 6-0, 11-13.
