Colgate soundly defeats Wagner, 6-1 to conclude fall season

Box Score FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. – Colgate men's tennis successfully concluded their fall campaign with a dominant 6-1 win at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center that saw a trio of Raiders win multiple matches in the lopsided duel.

"I can't say how proud I am of our men," Head Coach Bobby Pennington said. "Our doubles play set the tone today and we were dominant dogs at two through six. This was a highly productive fall and we have big goals in the spring."

"Last season was our darkest season ever and the mark of a good program built on tradition and culture is how you bounce back," Pennington continued. "We have an extremely tight-knit group this year who plays great doubles and grinds like crazy in singles. We want to let our play do the talking with how we compete for every ball."

A dogfight for the doubles point came down to the last matchup, with Josh Israel/Benito Vlassis dropping their top-flighted bout before Ben Graham/Aidan Lee were victorious in doubles two (6-4). First-year Jerome Falcon teamed up with Parker McGowan to win the first point for the Raiders with a 6-3 decision.

The Seahawks won their only point of the afternoon in singles one, but that was all they would be able to muster. Colgate held the home team to only nine points for the remainder of the duel, with five separate shutout games on courts two through six.

Vlassis' win was the closest match, but he was still able to escape with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph. Graham, Lee and Falcon commanded their respective courts, all winning 6-1, 6-0. In singles six, Mikey Weitz capped off the Raiders fall season with a resounding 6-3, 6-0 victory.
