ITHACA, N.Y. - You couldn't ask for a much better spring debut than the one Colgate put together against St. Francis Brooklyn. A tougher task this time around, Cornell came into Sunday afternoon 2-0 after a dominant victory over Michigan State the same day.
The Big Red swept doubles matches to earn a point before moving on to singles, where they have yet to lose in 2020.
Scott Bickel at number one singles got off to a great start, winning the first set against Cornell star Evan Bynoe and nearly taking him down in the second. Bynoe battled back to win the third set and take the victory.
Rohan Gupta and
Jack Selati both competed to the very end, forcing tie-breakers in the second set against tough opponents. Neither could force a third set.
Cornell improves to 3-0 on the year while Colgate drops to 1-1.

From the Source
Head Coach Bobby Pennington
- "The final score was not indicative of the closeness and quality of the match. Cornell showed why they have the talent of a top 25 team. All three doubles at one point were tied mid way through first sets, and all lost by a break. In singles, Bickel won the first set and Gupta and Selati both took second sets to breakers. They are by far the most elite team on our schedule and we learned a lot. We have an outstanding group of young men and culture that is primed to do big things."
