Raiders Fall to Bison

Bartimer Claims another Victory, as Colgate Gets Knocked off by Bucknell

SYRACUSE, N.Y.—The Colgate Women's Tennis team fought tight with Patriot League rival Bucknell, but the Bison prevailed 6-1 Saturday afternoon at Drumlins Country Club.

The day started out with a hotly contested doubles point. Lauren O'Brien teamed with Madi Kiani and Callie Bartimer played with Elizabeth Laub in a pair of barnburner matches, but both teams eventually fell.

In singles, MacKenzie Deeter put up a strong fight at number one, but she eventually was topped by a 7-5, 6-1 final.

At number three, Jordan Williams had one for the ages. She won her opening set, then fought close for the final two sets, but was narrowly defeated by a 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 final.

Kiani had another long match at number four, but she barely missed out on winning a set in a 7-5, 6-4 setback.

Colgate's lone point of the day came from Bartimer. She clawed her way back after losing the opening set to claim a 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 victory in dramatic fashion to avoid the shutout.

Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach Bobby Pennington

"I'm so proud of our ladies. First off, credit to Bucknell. They are 8-0 for a reason. We came within a hair of the doubles point, losing all nail biters at two and three."

"In singles, credit to Deeter, Williams, Kiani and Bartimer for really bringing it and playing to the bitter end."

"The ladies have a lot of winnable matches in the second half of the schedule and we want to continue to improve."
