Raiders Win Sixth Straight!

Colgate Beats Lehigh for First Time Since 2010, Remains Unbeaten in PL Play

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Colgate men's tennis team earned its sixth consecutive victory downing Lehigh, 4-3, Saturday at Lewis Indoor Tennis Center/Ulrich Varsity Tennis Courts.

The Raiders improved to 11-4 on the season and to 2-0 in Patriot League play.

This marks the longest win-streak for the Raiders since the 2014-15 season when the team won eight consecutive matches.

It also marks Colgate's first win over Lehigh since April 10, 2010.

All seven Raiders in action picked up a victory on the day. The doubles pairings of Noah Rosenblat and Tyler Krantz as well as Alec Dardis and Jack Ablon were victorious. In singles play, Jacob Daugherty, Scott Bickel and Peter Hartman brought home wins.

The Raiders had to grind out each of their singles victories with all of them going three sets. Daugherty lost his first set 4-6, but bounced back to win the last two. Bickel won the first set 7-6, then dropped an extended set in the second 5-7 before finishing strong in the third 6-2. In the No. 5 match, Hartman won the first and dropped the second before outlasting Lehigh's George Cooper in the final set.

FROM THE SOURCE
Head Coach Bobby Pennington
"Bar none, one of, if not, my favorite and most quality wins at Colgate. It's the first time we've beaten Lehigh since 2010 and it was so deserved. We played lights out in doubles. Game balls go to Daugherty, Bickel, and Hartman for winning in 3 sets! We are on a mission for a high seed as we are hosting the Patriot League Tournament. We now need to refocus for Bucknell and go 12-4 and 3-0 in league!"
