BRADENTON, Fla. – The Colgate women's tennis team wrapped up the Michael Schonbraun '96 Spring Break trip Thursday afternoon with a 5-2 loss to the Quinnipiac Bobcats at IMG Academy.
Lauren O'Brien (Leawood, Kansas) and
Jordan Williams (Fort Washington, Maryland) each earned wins at singles for the Raiders in the tough loss.
After falling in all three matches of doubles play, the Raiders rebounded to pick up a few wins to close the gap against the Bobcats. Trailing 2-0 after an early loss at No. 6 singles, the Raiders rebounded to win two of the next three completed matches as O'Brien cruised past Payton Bradley and Williams withheld a Rodriguez rally.
Despite pulling within 3-2,
Kelly Klein (Ross, California) and
Cheyenne Brown (Dayton, New Jersey) fell in three-set matches after great second sets to fight hard.
Deeter has won at singles in three of Colgate's last four matches.

"I am extremely proud of the women today and the heart they showed. Quinnipiac is an excellent team who frequently goes to NCAAs. After getting rolled in doubles, the ladies showed a ton of heart in singles. Game balls go to O'Brien and Williams who both won in straight sets. It came down to two third-set battles but we came up a bit short. We now turn our attention to league play with Holy Cross on Sunday."
