Patriot League Release

HAMILTON – Lauren Hyland's outstanding debut season landed on the Colgate rookie on the All-Patriot League Second Team.
 
Hyland played in the No. 1 position for the Raiders and was a part of 10 singles victories and 11 doubles triumphs. Included were sweep wins over conference foes Lafayette and Holy Cross, partnering with Jennifer Ho on the doubles court.
 
The Greenwich, Connecticut, product also represented Colgate in the fall's USTA/ITA Northeast Regional Championship at Dartmouth. Hyland was the team's singles entry and she joined Ho in the doubles draw.
 
"It's unusual to have a first-year playing both No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles," Colgate head coach Bobby Pennington said. "She got off to a terrific start with a great fall. In the spring she was 10-8, which is still a winning record but that included some really close losses. Next year, she's going to be even better.
 
"To get All-League as a freshman is a tremendous accomplishment. Hopefully, she will build on that and make it onto the first team next year."
