Colgate Suffers 4-0 Setback to Army West Point in Quarterfinals of Patriot League Tournament Friday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – No. 7 seed Colgate fell to No. 2 seed Army West Point, 4-0, in the quarterfinal round of the 2016 Patriot League Women's Tennis Tournament Friday at the indoor Tose Family Tennis Center at the Brigade Sports Complex.

The Black Knights claimed the top two doubles matches to take a 1-0 lead. Army's Rugile Valuniate and Eva Sung defeated Colgate's Jennifer Ho and Lauren Hyland at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, while Carolyn Pitman and Kirby Einck gave the Black Knights a 6-1 triumph against the Raiders' Katie Grant and Kaelin Brittin in the second doubles match.

In singles play, Valuniate defeated Ho, 6-1, 6-0, at No. 2 singles while Gabriella Spindler defeated Kelly Klein, 6-2, 6-0, in the fifth singles match and Nancy Porter swept Nicole Szczech, 6-2, 6-1, in No. 6 singles to complete the sweep for Army.
