HAMILTON – Colgate Men's Tennis senior captain
Alan Pleat was named Patriot League Men's Tennis Player-of-the-Week, League officials announced on Monday.
A native of Roslyn, N.Y., Pleat captured the deciding point for the Raiders in a 4-3 Patriot League win Saturday over Bucknell. After dropping the first set at No. 2 singles to the Bison' Daniel Wright, Pleat rallied for a 4-6, 7-6, 6-4 victory to complete Colgate's comeback from a 3-0 deficit in the match.
In doubles action, Pleat teamed with
Nick Laub for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles versus Bucknell.
"Nobody deserves this award more than our senior captain
Alan Pleat," said Colgate Head Coach
Bobby Pennington. "Alan has clinched three 4-3 matches for us this year. He won at No. 2 doubles against Bucknell. In singles, he was down a set and was facing match point in the tiebreaker before coming back to win 6-4 in third set. Alan is an exceptional student athlete, captain, role model and person."
Currently riding an eight-match winning streak, Colgate (13-5; 3-1 PL) returns to action Saturday when it hosts Patriot League rival Lehigh in a 2 p.m. match at the J. W. Abrahamson Tennis Courts.
