LaxMagazine.comEvery lacrosse player has an injury story — that moment she realizes how much she appreciates the body that moves her up and down the field, because suddenly something happens and that same body is no longer as capable as it once was.
Lauren Gorajek's story trumps most.
Last November, Gorajek had just finished a routine day at Colgate — class, lift, practice, study, rinse and repeat — when she noticed an immense soreness in her left arm. If felt "as if I was getting my blood pressure taken with no doctor to release the compression," she said.
Gorajek's arm swelled and turned purple. She saw team physician
Dr. Merrill Miller, who sent her tests to University Hospital in Syracuse, N.Y, for analysis.
"You have a blood clot," Miller said, "and Syracuse needs you to come up there within the hour."
