Bishara nets sixth straight hat trick

BALTIMORE - Colgate closed the gap to just one goal at the start of the second half but ultimately fell, 18-11, to Loyola Maryland at Ridley Athletic Complex on Saturday

HOW IT HAPPENED
Gracie DeSimone capitalized early, netting the first goal of the game at 11:47. Despite this strong start, Loyola responded with a series of goals to take the lead. Loyola's offense gained traction midway through the quarter, scoring four consecutive goals to establish a significant advantage. Colgate remained resilient as Lucy Lederman found the net on a free-position shot at 2:31, cutting into Loyola Maryland's lead.

As the quarter concluded, Loyola Maryland added two more goals, extending its lead to 6-2 at the end of the first quarter.

Colgate opened the second quarter with an offensive push, as Katie Walsh scored within the first minute. Despite a responsive goal from the Greyhounds' Caroline Gerosa, Colgate regained momentum with Ella Bishara scoring a player-up goal, followed by Aubrey McMahon's two goals, one assisted by DeSimone, which narrowed the gap.

Loyola Maryland managed to score late in the quarter with Emma Talago finding the net on a player-up opportunity. However, Colgate's defense held strong with Stevens making several crucial saves, and Isabel Alini forcing a turnover in the final seconds. The quarter concluded with Colgate closing the deficit to 8-6.

Colgate capitalized on an early turnover by the Greyhounds, as DeSimone scored a player-up goal with an assist from McMahon, putting the visitors on the board first in the third quarter. Loyola Maryland then surged ahead, extending its lead with consecutive goals by Ava Kane and Lauren Perfetto, making the score 11-7. Despite challenges, Colgate managed to reduce the deficit when Sarah Marcovici found the back of the net with a player-up goal, bringing the score to 13-8. The quarter ended with Loyola Maryland maintaining a 13-8 advantage.

Colgate began the fourth quarter with a strong defensive effort, forcing a turnover by the Greyhounds. Bishara capitalized on a player-up opportunity, scoring with an assist from Grace Delnegro, narrowing the gap to 14-9. The team continued to apply pressure as Walsh found the net off an assist from McMahon, bringing the score to 15-10.

Colgate maintained momentum with another goal from Bishara at 6:04, closing the deficit to 15-11. As the quarter wound down, Colgate's efforts to regain control were met with resistance. Despite several scoring attempts, including shots by Marcovici and McMahon, the team was unable to convert. The quarter closed with a score of 18-11 in favor of Loyola Maryland.
