Bishara logs 100th career point

HAMILTON - Colgate fell to No. 6 Navy, 23-7, at Andy Kerr Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Mids capitalized on their early opportunities, starting with Mikayla Williams scoring at 13:10. Colgate's defense, led by Sophie Granse, created turnovers, but their offense struggled to convert these into goals, evidenced by missed shots from Ella Bishara and Abby Iacovelli.

Throughout the quarter, Colgate managed to win a couple of draw controls and had some successful clear attempts. However, the Mids maintained their scoring pace, adding goals from Alyssa Chung and Ava Yovino, ultimately concluding the first quarter with a 7-0 advantage over Colgate.

The Mids surged ahead early in the second quarter, netting multiple goals, including two by Taylor Miles, to extend their lead. Colgate responded with a free-position goal by Bishara at 7:02, reducing the deficit. Despite Colgate's defensive efforts, the Mids continued their offensive momentum with additional goals, bringing the score to 14-1. In the closing moments, Gracie DeSimone scored for Colgate, assisted by Bishara, at 0:59. The quarter concluded with a score of Navy 14, Colgate 2.

Colgate's Sarah Marcovici capitalized on a free-position opportunity early in the third quarter, scoring at 14:09. Despite Marcovici's effort, the Mids responded with a series of goals, including two from Emma Kennedy, widening their lead. Bishara added another goal for Colgate with 1:40 left on the clock, but the team faced challenges in maintaining possession, evident in multiple turnovers. The period concluded with Navy leading 18-4.

Olivia McDonald opened the fourth quarter for Colgate with a goal at 14:13, assisted by Katie Walsh, narrowing the margin. Chase Dunn followed with another goal at 9:31, aided by Marcovici, keeping Colgate in contention despite the Mids' response. Late in the quarter, Bishara found the back of the net with 42 seconds remaining, assisted by DeSimone, capping Colgate's scoring efforts.
