2014 Field Hockey Schedule
HAMILTON – Colgate head coach
Cathy Foto and her field hockey program have set a tough 16-game regular season slate for the 2014 season.
"This upcoming schedule promises to provide a lot of great action," Foto said. "We have three pre-season scrimmages to test out our squad and work on replacing four starters. We have a nice selection of out-of-conference opponents from five different leagues.
"The schedule contains regional rival Cornell and ACC power Boston College. Our other non-league opponents include Bryant, Ball State and New York state foes Siena and Hofstra."
The Raiders open up the year against Bryant Aug. 29 on Tyler's Field. Colgate continues its homestand with three more contests on home turf against Hofstra Aug. 31, nearby rival Cornell Sept. 5, and Ball State a day later on Sept. 6.
The first road test of the year won't be easy, as the Raiders take on A10 opponent Lock Haven on Sept. 13. The following day Colgate then travels to Loretto, Pa., for a contest with Saint Francis (Pa.).
Colgate and Boston College meet up on Sept. 21 on Tyler's Field before the Raiders close out non-league action on Oct. 10 at Rider, Oct. 19 at Georgetown and Oct. 26 against Siena. This will also be the first all-time meeting between the Raiders and the Hoyas.
Conference play begins on Sept. 20 when the Raiders host Holy Cross during homecoming weekend. When Nov. 7 hits, Colgate hopes to be vying for a Patriot League Title as the post-season tournament begins at the highest seed.
"Patriot League competition will be intense as usual and we look forward to hosting home games against Holy Cross, Lafayette and Bucknell," Foto said.
"We are excited for the 2014 season to begin and I know that we have lined up a great schedule of games that promises to provide our fans with some exciting matches throughout the entire season."
