Raiders Drop First Conference Game

Bucknell’s offensive opportunities stunned Colgate

LEWISBURG, Pa. — In the first conference showing, Bucknell overpowered Colgate with a 5-0 victory, using a strong offensive performance to secure the win.

Bucknell struck early, scoring two goals in the first quarter and adding two more in the third. The Bison's offensive surge earned them a 1–0 record in conference play as the Raiders dropped to 0–1.

COACH CORNELL-DEANGELIS' COMMENTS
"Today's loss is tough and certainly not our best performance. Going down two goals early in the first quarter off penalty corners put us in a whole. I was happy that we started to string some good connections and attacking opportunities together in the second quarter. We were not able to capitalize on the corners and scoring opportunities and ultimately Bucknell scored and we didn't. We will focus on how we can come together as a team. Play a more tough and aggressive game moving forward.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Bucknell opened the scoring off a penalty corner with a goal by Kira Leclercq almost two minutes into the match. Bella Notaro and Nicky Punt tallied assists, giving the Bison a 1-0 lead.
  • Leclercq added her second goal a minute later, again assisted by Notaro and Punt, increasing Bucknell's lead to 2-0.
  • The Raiders' Claire van Kempen recorded a save to keep the score at 2-0 by the end of the first quarter.
  • In the second quarter, the Raiders started generating offense as they earned two penalty corners but could not convert either attempt into a goal.
  • Bucknell extended their lead to 3-0 with a goal by Gracie Kothari in the 32nd minute.
  • Van Kempen made a diving save on a Bison shot to stop them from extending their lead.
  • Off a selfless effort, Anna Lochhead recorded a defensive save for the Raiders to keep the Bison from tallying another goal.
  • Reese Czajkowski scored for Bucknell, increasing the lead to 4-0 in the 44th minute.
  • Capitalizing off a penalty corner, Czajkowski scored in the 49th minute with an assist from Punt, extending the Bison's lead to 5-0.

GAME NOTES
  • van Kempen recorded three saves over the first three quarters.
  • Forward Morgan Willis generated offensive pressure with two shots, one on goal.
  • Lochhead contributed defensively with a crucial defensive save.
  • In the last quarter, first year Kennedy Glinn made her Raider debut and notched three saves on four shots faced in her 15 minutes of play.
