VERONA, N.Y. – The Colgate men's tennis team saw its four-match winning streak come to an end this weekend as the Raiders fell in both matches of the Turning Stone Tournament.

Colgate opened the two-day tournament at Turning Stone Resort with a 5-2 loss to Bryant and then dropped a 6-1 decision on Sunday to Niagara.

The Raiders came up short in the fight for the doubles point against the Bulldogs. Archer McFall and Alan Pleat were up in their match in the second spot when the doubles point was decided. They were leading 7-6.

Bryant swept the top four positions in the singles lineup to get the win. Colgate got victories from Bobby Alter and Jake Hirschberg in the fifth and sixth spots, respectively. Alter won in straight sets after taking home the second set in a tiebreaker. Hirschberg won convincingly with a 6-1, 6-1, victory.

On Sunday, the Raiders did not get the doubles point after a hard fought match in the top spot went to the Purple Eagles. Luke Gensberg and Alter went to a tiebreaker, but came up short by an 8-7 score. McFall and Pleat finished their match this time and finished off Niagara with an 8-4 win in the second spot. The third spot saw the Purple Eagles earn an 8-4 win to take the point.

Gensburg was the lone Raider to win in singles play. He made quick work of Michael Elarteghi with a 6-4, 6-2 win.

Colgate is back on the court on March 1 as it opens Patriot League play against Boston University.
