HAMILTON – The Colgate men's hockey team held its annual awards banquet at the Colgate Inn on Saturday night and also named Spiro Goulakos captain for the 2013-14 seasons.

In addition to Goulakos being named captain, Joe Wilson was selected as the assistant captain for next season.

The team voted on six of the eight awards with the exception being the Best Offensive Player and Coaches Award. The Best Offensive Player is given to the player with the most points on the team.

Goulakos was awarded with three of the eight awards as he took home the Dan Coley “Barrel” Award, Rob Ries Award and Coaches Award. Despite missing 10 games, Goulakos was the leader on the blueline with seven goals, including four power play goals and two gamewinning goals. He ended up with 18 points, which was one away from a career-high. His biggest goal of the season was against nationally-ranked Union in his home return after missing three games. The goal was the gamewinner in a 4-1 win. Five of his seven goals came in league play and three were power play goals. The Dan Coley Award is given to the best defensemen, while the Rob Ries Award is given to the player who provided the most inspiration and leadership to the team.

Senior Jeremy Price was another big winner with two awards on the night, including the Terry Slater Trophy, which is awarded by the Silver Puck Club and goes to the senior whose performance, leadership, and dedication on and off the ice during his career had the greatest impact on Colgate hockey. He was also named the Best Defensive Player.

Price finished his career with 149 games played, which is tied for 11th all time. He recorded 76 career points and is eighth on the all-time list among defensemen with 57 career assists. This year he had his second-straight season with at least 20 points and tied a career-high with six goals. He had two power play goals and two gamewinners as well as a shorthanded tally.

The Whit Williams Award is given to the player that is most improved over his four years with the program and this year it went to Nathan Sinz. He played over 100 games in his career and had 24 points on two goals and 22 assists. He was one of Colgate's most improved players over his career and was a huge part of the blue line. Sinz recorded his first two career goals this season against Sacred Heart and Yale and added six assists for eight points. He has also been a model student-athlete as he has been named to the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team the last three seasons and was a finalist for the 2012-13 ECAC Hockey Student-Athlete of the Year.

Senior Kurtis Bartliff was voted the winner of the Steve Riggs Award, which rewards a player who is most known for gentlemanly play and possesses a high standard of ability. It was the second time in his career that Bartliff has won the Riggs Award as he was honored as a sophomore with the award. He finished his career with 134 games played with 65 career points. This season he had 17 points with a career-high nine goals and had two multi-goal games, which was also a high. The two multi-goal games came in the season opener against Niagara and a December matchup at UMass. He ended up with 15 career multi-point games with seven of those coming as multi-assist games.

The team's Best Offensive player went to Tylor Spink, who led the team in points with 31. He was the first rookie to lead Colgate in points since Tyler Burton '08 had 34 points in 2004-05. Spink tallied 13 goals and 18 helpers with seven of his goals coming on the power play. He had 15 points in league play on seven goals and eight assists. He was the first Hogan Hockey/ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Month this season. Spink was a finalist for the ECAC Hockey Rookie of the Year and led the conference in points among rookies.
