SYRACUSE, N.Y. (3/12/10) - The three game winning streak of the Colgate women's tennis team was brought to a halt Thursday afternoon as it was blanked by Central New York foe Syracuse, 7-0, at the Drumlins Tennis Center. The Raider women are now 4-3 overall while the Orange improve to 12-2 on the season.

Elise DeRose (Williamsville, N.Y.) fell to Syracuse's Emily Harman at the first singles position, with set scores of 6-4, 6-2. Classmate
Samantha Inacker (Lake Forest, Ill.) dropped her No. 2 singles match to senior Eleanor Peters, 6-3, 6-2. Fellow senior
Cameron Williams (Winnetka, Ill.) suffered a 6-1, 6-1 loss to the Orange's Alessondra Parra.

Jackie Stimmel (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) and sophomore
Stephanie Brown (Mendham, N.J.) fell at the No. 4 and No. 5 positions, respectively. Stimmel dropped her singles match against Simone Kalhorn, 6-1, 6-2, while Brown fell in twin sets, 6-1, 6-1, to Christina Tan. Syracuse senior Chelsea Jones downed Colgate freshman
Merideth Rock (Kansas City, Mo.) in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, at sixth singles.
In doubles action, the duo of DeRose and Williams dropped fell 8-6 to the team of Harman and Tan. Inacker and
Stephanie Bender (Amityville, N.Y.) teamed up at second doubles, falling to the pair of Parra and Peters, 8-3. At the No. 3 position, Stimmel and Rock were blanked, 8-0, by Kalhorn and Jones.
The Colgate women will now travel to Orlando, Fla., where they will play three matches during their spring break trip. The Raiders first match is set for Monday, March 15 against South Dakota at 8 a.m.
