ITHACA, N.Y. (2/10/10) - The Colgate women's tennis team dropped their 2010 spring opener, 7-0, to rival Cornell on Tuesday evening at the Reis Tennis Center in Ithaca, N.Y. The Big Red improve to 1-1 on the season while the Raiders start the season at 0-1.

 

Cornell swept the Raiders in both singles and doubles play. Senior Elise DeRose (Williamsville, N.Y.) took on Kristin Lim at first singles, falling in two sets 6-3, 6-4. Freshmen Asia Lamar (Olympia Fields, Ill.) and Meredith Rock (Kansas City, Mo.) each earned a spot in the line-up. Lamar paired with sophomore Stephanie Brown (Mendham, N.J.) at third doubles, dropping an 8-1 decision to Ruxandra Dumetrescu and Kristin Lim. Rock played in the sixth singles slot falling to Dumetrescu, 6-0, 6-1.

 

The Raiders will be back in action this weekend traveling to Loudonville, N.Y. to face Siena on Friday, Feb. 12 before hosting Rochester on Saturday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m.
