WEST POINT, N.Y. – Colgate concluded regular-season play with a 17-6 loss to Army on Friday at Michie Stadium. Despite the loss, the Raiders look forward to postseason play after finishing fifth in the Patriot League standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate won the opening faceoff, but quick possession changes led to the Black Knights' first goal. Army expanded its lead with an assisted goal to go up 2-0. The Raiders responded when Andrew Heubeck found the net on a solo attempt, putting them on the board.
Freddy Fowler then equalized for Colgate at 4:25. However, Army West Point regained the lead with a pair of goals, closing the first quarter with a 4-2 advantage.
The Black Knights went on a scoring frenzy in the second quarter, outscoring Colgate 5-0. The Raiders fired seven shots but were unable to convert, heading into halftime trailing 9-2.
Colgate opened the third quarter with a faceoff win that led to Casey Quinson scoring, cutting the deficit to 9-3. The Black Knights maintained offensive momentum in the third, scoring six unanswered goals to take a 15-3 lead.
The Raiders outscored the Black Knights 3-2 in the final quarter. The charge was led by Fowler, who scored his second goal of the game, assisted by John Carrabine. Army responded shortly after with a goal.
Later in the final stretch, Carter Cadin added an unassisted goal, and Luke Knezovic scored in the final seconds. Despite the late push, the Black Knights secured a 17-6 victory.

Colgate (5-8, 4-4 Patriot) concluded the regular season as the No. 5 seed. No. 4 seed Bucknell (8-6, 4-4 Patriot) will host the Raiders on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, at Christy Mathewson-Memorial Stadium in a quarterfinal matchup.
