SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Colgate women's tennis team picked up a 4-1 win over Le Moyne, on a day where they were honoring their two senior captains,
Amelia Galin and
Sasha Herman. The Raiders picked up the doubles point, then wins from Herman, sophomore
Rebecca Hess, and first-year
Caroline Brown brought the win home.
The Raiders opened up doubles action with a senior day win for Herman, as she teamed up with junior Carina Cristobal to win 6-2 at line two. Hess and junior Avery Isaac then clinched the point for the squad at line three with a 6-3 win.
SIngles action would follow, where the Dolphins would level the match at one apiece with a 6-1, 6-3 win over Galin at line one. However, that would be all the matches Le Moyne would pick up, as the Raiders immediately responded with Herman winning 6-1, 6-3 at line five, and Hess 6-2, 6-1 at line three. Brown would clinch the match with a 7-5, 6-0 win at line six. Junior Sophia Montero was up 7-5, 4-3 at line two, and sophomore Anya Kunar was in a third set when play was called for the clinch.
The Raiders return to action next Saturday, where they will head to Holy Cross to take on the Crusaders at noon.
