Women’s Tennis Falls to Villanova

Raiders finish road trip 1-1 after 4-0 loss to Wildcats

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Colgate women's tennis team fell 4-0 to Villanova on Saturday to cap off their road trip after beating Wagner on Friday. Senior captain Sasha Herman and junior Carina Cristobal picked up the lone win for the Raiders at line two doubles.

The Wildcats started off hot in doubles, as they won line three 6-1 over sophomore Rebecca Hess and junior Avery Isaac. They won the point with a 6-4 win at line one over senior captain Amelia Galin and junior Sophia Montero, however, Herman and Cristobal were able to pick up a 7-5 win at line two. 

Action resumed with singles, where the Wildcats were able to continue their momentum to win the three singles courts to take the match. Montero fell 6-1, 6-4 at line two and Hess lost a tight first set 7-5, 6-0 at line three. Villanova clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Galin at line one.

The Raiders return to Drumlins on Friday, where they will take on conference foe Army at 2 p.m.
