Raiders Cruise to 20-13 Win over Lafayette

McMahon explodes with 10-point game

HAMILTON
- Aubrey McMahon put up 10 points including nine goals to lead the Raiders to a 20-13 win over Lafayette at Andy Kerr Stadium on Saturday.

After holding onto a three-goal lead at halftime, Colgate scored eight unanswered goals in the third frame to put the game out of the Leopards reach.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate took control early in the first quarter with a goal by Aubrey McMahon, converted from a draw control by Gracie DeSimone. DeSimone continued to make an impact, securing another draw control that led to her own goal, extending the lead. McMahon added another goal shortly after, with Colgate capitalizing on a free position attempt to build a 3-1 advantage.

Despite Colgate's strong start, Lafayette responded with goals by Annie Madden and Georgia Swarr, closing the gap. Colgate regained momentum with McMahon securing another goal, but Lafayette managed to score twice more, leveling the game by the end of the quarter. The first quarter concluded with a close score of 4-3 in favor of Colgate.

Colgate opened the second quarter with a strong offensive surge. Ella Bishara scored on a free-position shot, quickly followed by another free-position goal from Aubrey McMahon. Lafayette responded with two player-up goals, narrowing the gap. However, Colgate maintained its advantage as Bishara scored again, and McMahon added another goal, bringing the score to 8-6. Colgate added goals from Lucy Lederman and Katie Walsh. McMahon completed the quarter with a late goal, ensuring Colgate ended the quarter ahead 11-8.

Colgate opened the third quarter with a strong offensive surge. McMahon capitalized on a player-up opportunity with a goal at 12:27, assisted by Bishara. This set the tone for a scoring run, as Grace Delnegro followed with a free position goal at 11:41.

The team's momentum continued with McMahon scoring again at 10:28, followed by another player-up goal from Bishara with an assist from McMahon at 9:34. Walsh added to the tally with a player-up goal, assisted by Olivia McDonald, at 8:33, and McDonald found the net herself at 7:50, assisted by Sarah Marcovici.

Colgate's offense maintained pressure, with Walsh scoring again at 6:36. McMahon capped off the quarter with a goal at 3:27. Throughout the quarter, Colgate's defense forced multiple turnovers, limiting Lafayette's opportunities. The quarter ended with Colgate leading 19-8.

Lafayette opened the fourth quarter with a free-position goal by Bailey Gurley. As the quarter progressed, Lafayette capitalized on a player-up opportunity with a goal by Olivia Kelley, further tightening the scoreline. Colgate's defense, highlighted by McDonald's caused turnover and ground ball pickup, facilitated a transition that culminated in a goal from Charley Drouin.

The Leopards found momentum late in the quarter, with Emma Toner scoring twice in the final minute. The Raiders closed out the game with a 20-13 win.
