Carrabine earns honor for the third time in his career

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – For the third time in his career and first time this season, junior defender John Carrabine collects the league's Defensive Athlete of the Week award.

A consistent starter for the Raiders back line, Carrabine led the way defensively for Colgate against Loyola over the weekend. He forced four turnovers and grabbed eight ground balls, two shy of matching his career-best 10.

In addition to his lockdown defense, he also gave the Raiders some finesse on offense. Carrabine scored the final goal in the first quarter for Colgate to trail 4-3 to Loyola. In total, Carrabine fired off two shots, placing both on target and converting one for a goal.

In the Patriot League, Carrabine ranks in the top 10 in ground balls and caused turnovers. He ranks fourth in ground balls with 30, averaging six per game, and sixth in caused turnovers with nine, averaging 1.8 per game.

The Raiders are slated to face Holy Cross on Saturday in Worcester, Mass., at 1 p.m.
