Raiders Fall to Johns Hopkins

McMahon logs three assists

BALTIMORE - Colgate dropped a 23-7 non-conference game to Johns Hopkins at Homewood Field on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Johns Hopkins quickly gained momentum with an early goal by Sienna Chirieleison at 13:28. Despite facing a series of turnovers and fouls, Colgate's defense, particularly Maddie Stevens, made crucial saves against multiple attempts by the home team.

Midway through the quarter, Johns Hopkins extended its lead with three goals from Ava Angello, including a player-up goal, pushing the score to 5-0. Colgate responded effectively in the latter part of the quarter. Sarah Marcovici scored at 3:26, assisted by Ella Bishara, and Katie Walsh added another goal at 1:37 with an assist from McMahon, closing the first quarter with the Blue Jays leading 5-2.

Colgate's second-quarter performance was highlighted by key goals from Ella Bishara at 12:50, assisted by McMahon, and Marcovici at 3:42, with an assist from Bishara once again. Walsh also found the net at 2:41, aided by McMahon, pulling Colgate closer in the middle of the quarter. Despite these efforts, the Blue Jays maintained their lead, scoring multiple times, including a late goal by Eleri Colon with just five seconds remaining. The quarter concluded with the Blue Jays leading 13-5.

The Blue Jays began the third quarter with a strong offensive push, scoring three consecutive goals, including a free position goal by McKenzey Craig at 8:15, extending their lead. Colgate responded with determination as Olivia McDonald found the back of the net at 4:11, with an assist from Amelia Reinholt, marking her second goal of the season and breaking the scoring drought for Colgate. Despite efforts to close the gap, including a draw control by Gracie DeSimone, Colgate was unable to shift the momentum further. The quarter ended with a score of 17-6 in favor of the Blue Jays.

Colgate found the back of the net with 9:07 remaining as Lucy Lederman scored, assisted by Marcovici. Despite this effort, the team struggled to maintain momentum during the quarter. The Blue Jays countered with multiple goals, increasing their lead consistently throughout the quarter. The game concluded with the Blue Jays securing a 23-7 victory over Colgate.
