Raiders Drop Game to Binghamton

DeSimone nets career-high four goals

HAMILTON - Despite a second-half surge, the Raiders were unable to recover from a six-goal second quarter run by Binghamton and fell 16-13 at Andy Kerr Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The game began with Colgate taking an early lead, as Chase Dunn scored the opening goal at 14:07, assisted by Aubrey McMahon. Gracie DeSimone extended Colgate's advantage, netting a player-up goal at 13:26, again with an assist from McMahon. However, the Bearcats responded with a series of goals, starting with Emma Blloshmi's free-position shot at 11:58, followed by Leah Kaufer's equalizing goal at 10:00. Despite Colgate's initial momentum, Binghamton continued their offensive push, taking the lead with goals from Mia Forte and Sienna Fox. The quarter concluded with Binghamton ahead 4-2.

Colgate began the second quarter with a strong offensive rally, netting three consecutive goals. Aubrey McMahon initiated the scoring at 11:07, followed by Gracie DeSimone's goal at 10:41, assisted by Charley Drouin, and a player-up goal from Sarah Marcovici at 9:57, with an assist from Katie Walsh. However, the Bearcats responded robustly, scoring multiple times and establishing a lead. Despite Colgate's efforts, including a final wide shot by DeSimone as the quarter closed, Binghamton finished the quarter ahead at 11-5.

Colgate surged in the third quarter, beginning with DeSimone's goal at 12:33. This was followed by Olivia McDonald's player-up goal on a free position shot at 10:38, narrowing the gap. Josie Cavallo's draw control led to another goal by DeSimone, assisted by Marcovici, at 9:21. Despite Binghamton's attempts to respond, including a goal by Sabrina Boyle, Colgate maintained momentum with Katie Walsh scoring twice, assisted by Grace Delnegro and DeSimone. The quarter ended with Colgate trailing narrowly, 13-10.

In the fourth quarter, Colgate made a significant push with Lucy Lederman scoring early at 12:42, assisted by Delnegro. Despite the Bearcats' Forte finding the net in player-up situations, Colgate responded with precise draw controls by McMahon and DeSimone. Ella Bishara added another goal at 8:57, narrowing the gap. Late in the quarter, with just one second remaining, McMahon capitalized on a free position shot to score, but it was not enough to overcome the Bearcats' lead. The game concluded with a final score of Binghamton 16, Colgate 13.

GAME NOTES
