HAMILTON - Elyssa Biederman and
Sara Stewart scored two goals in three minutes midway through the third period to help push the Raiders past No. 11 Clarkson on Saturday.
Biederman posted four points while Alexis Petford logged a three assist performance.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Colgate's defense held firm during an early power play by the Golden Knights, with Casey Borgiel and Avery Pickering blocking key shots, while Brooke Davis made crucial saves to maintain a scoreless start for the opposing team.
Midway through the period, Colgate capitalized on their opportunities during an even-strength play. Chloe Goofers scored the opening goal of the season, assisted by Elyssa Biederman and Alexis Petford, putting Colgate ahead. The period concluded with Colgate leading 1-0.
The second period began with the Golden Knights capitalizing on a power play, as Sara Manness scored 45 seconds. Colgate responded with persistent offensive pressure, including shots from Madeline Palumbo and Dorothy Copetti, but were initially unable to find the net. Despite facing multiple penalties, Colgate's defense, led by Davis, managed to limit further damage.
Midway through the period, the Golden Knights extended their lead with a power-play goal by Sena Catterall, assisted by Kate Manness. However, Colgate remained resilient and took advantage of a power play themselves. Sara Stewart scored at 17:07, assisted by Petford and Biederman, tying the game. The period concluded with both teams locked at 2-2, setting the stage for a decisive third period.
Colgate extended their lead in the third period when Biederman scored the game-winning goal at 5:20, assisted by Petford and Alexia Aubin. The goal marked Biederman's 15th of the season, giving the home team a 3-2 advantage. Shortly after, Colgate capitalized on a power-play opportunity with Stewart finding the back of the net at 8:18, assisted by Emma Pais and Biederman, increasing the lead to 4-2.
As the period progressed, Colgate maintained defensive pressure, with Davis making crucial saves. The Golden Knights pulled their goalie late in the period, but Colgate's Jaimee Spring secured the victory with an empty-net goal at 19:24, assisted by Aubin and Pickering. Colgate concluded the game with a 5–2 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Elyssa Biederman concluded the weekend with nine points, including her 100th career assist. Bieds became just the third Raider in program history to achieve this feat.
- Alexis Petford recorded three assists in the win. Petford is the first to log three assists in a game since Casey Borgiel did so against Union on Nov. 22, 2025.
- Brooke Davis made 33 saves in between the pipes for the Raiders. Her first 30+ save performance since Nov. 29, 2025 against Ohio State.
- Colgate extended its win streak to four games which is the longest winning streak they have had this season.
- The Raiders picked up six points at home to move into a tie for fourth place in the ECAC.

Colgate (12-10-1, 7-4-1 ECAC) hits the road as they take on Yale and Brown next weekend. The Raiders head to Connecticut for Yale on Friday before matching up with Brown in Rhode Island on Saturday.
