NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Colgate struggled to generate offense and surrendered three goals over the final two periods in a 3-0 loss to No. 13/11 Yale on Friday night at Ingalls Rink.
After a scoreless opening period in which the Raiders outshot the Bulldogs 12-7, Yale broke through midway through the second when Mariya Rauf scored on a wrist shot from the high slot.
Colgate responded with increased pressure and earned a late power-play chance in the period. Emma Pais produced one of the Raiders' best looks, but her backhand attempt was turned aside, allowing Yale to carry a 1-0 lead into the third.
The Bulldogs capitalized on their lone power-play opportunity early in the final frame, as Carina DiAntonio buried a second-chance puck less than five minutes in to double the lead.
Colgate pushed back with another power play late in the game, generating chances from Alexis Petford and Madeline Palumbo, but Yale held firm and sealed the win with an empty-net goal to snap the Raiders' four-game winning streak.
Petford, Sara Stewart, and Dorothy Copetti led Colgate with four shots each. The teams finished even at 29 shots apiece. Yale went 1-for-2 on the power play, while Colgate finished 0-for-3.
