Game Recap: Field Hockey | | Ashley Hudak

Dominant performance lifts Raiders to win

Field hockey captures its second win on the season with four different goal scorers

HAMILTON, N.Y. — Colgate secured a decisive 4-1 victory over Long Island University in a non-conference match. The Raiders struck early with two goals in the first quarter and maintained the lead with additional goals in the second and fourth quarters. The Sharks managed a single goal in the final quarter, but Colgate's defense, highlighted by four saves, held firm throughout the game.

COACH CORNELL-DEANGELIS' COMMENTS
"We were really focusing on the last five minutes of every quarter. You probably could even hear us shouting, but it was a really big focus on maintaining possession.

"Not giving the opponent a lot of scoring opportunities. I think we really as a team focused on that and we did a really great job of executing it. It was great to see goal scorers from a variety of different players and Grace, Lauren, and Morgan again, and Dani."

"Multiple different goal scorers is really exciting, but ultimately, we talked about having strong team defense and that was the main focus to really make sure they were not getting on the board. I'm proud of that with one goal against, because I think LIU is a great attacking team."

HOW IT HAPPENED
