Hollomon Leads Colgate at Alex Lagowitz Memorial

Raiders Eighth as a Team Led by Hollomon’s 13th Place Finish

HAMILTON – Led by Kevin Hollomon's 13th place finish, Colgate Golf wrapped up the Alex Lagowitz Memorial in eighth place Sunday afternoon at Seven Oaks Golf Club.

Seven Oaks, a par-72 course in Hamilton, N.Y., played 6,950 yards and saw low scores throughout the weekend with clear skies and temperatures soaring into the upper-70s. Eighty-two golfers from 12 institutions took the course for the 54-hole tournament.

"My first Lagowitz was an awesome experience," said head coach JP Kircher. "It was a ton of fun getting to see the Raiders compete. Big learning experience going forward, and we will be putting that to work throughout the week.

"Lots of good stretches from everyone over the course of the event makes me very eager to get on the road next week and compete again. Also, I'm overwhelmed by the support in the Colgate community for the tournament. It was so cool to have lots of spectators showing interest in the event!"

Hollomon fired a steady 220 (+4) to finish in a tie for 13th place on the individual leaderboard. Dugan McCabe climbed to 17th after turning in a 221 (+5) final card to give the Raiders two players inside the top 20.

Robbie Herzig placed 36th at 227 (+11), just ahead of Justin Fedele who finished tied for 48th at 230 (+14). Michael Hanratty (+22) and Carson Duffy (+24) rounded out Colgate's scoring contingent.

Colgate as a team took eighth place with a 304-291-302=897 (+33) two-day composite score, finishing ahead of Cornell, St. Bonaventure, Binghamton, and Lafayette. Yale brought home team honors led by individual co-medalists Blake Brantley and Will Lodge.

Colgate is back in action next Sunday when the Raiders head to Watchung, N.J., for the Cornell Fall Invitational Sept. 10-11.
