WEST POINT, N.Y. – Colgate Golf opened play Friday at the 2026 Patriot League Championship at the par-70 West Point Golf Course, turning in a solid first-round effort highlighted by a top-five individual performance from first-year Ronav Benak. 

Benak paced the Raiders with a two-over-par 72, placing him in a tie for fifth after 18 holes on a sunny and chilly Friday opening round. He sits just one stroke off the individual lead in a tightly packed leaderboard that saw four players finish the day at 1-over 71.

Colgate also received a steady round from Jayden Freedman, who carded a 5-over 75 to sit tied for 20th, while Leo Li followed closely with a 6-over 76, good for a tie for 25th. Alex Hill rounded out the counting scores with a 7-over 77, placing him in a tie for 30th.

Rounding out the Raider lineup, Brayden Dock and Jamison Bryant posted rounds of 83, each finishing the day in 48th place.

Through one round of the three-day championship, Colgate turned in a 300 (+20) team score, seven strokes off the lead. 

The tournament continues Saturday with Round 2 action at West Point Golf Course starting at 8 a.m.
