Men’s Tennis Set to Host The Patriot League Championship

Colgate Faces Boston in First Round

HAMILTON – Colgate Men's Tennis set to host Patriot League Tournament Thursday through Sunday on J. W. Abrahamson Tennis Courts.

Colgate earned the sixth seed after recording a 3-5 league record. The Raiders scored wins over Holy Cross, Lafayette, and Loyola.

Head Coach Bobby Pennington said "We are very excited about the opportunity to host the Patriot League tournament on our gorgeous outdoor courts this weekend. We earned the sixth seed after a 3-5 regular season in a much-improved league. We played our playoff opponent Boston earlier this spring, losing a close doubles point, and winning three of the six singles when clinched."

The Raiders posted a 5-15 season, scoring two non-league wins against Wagner and Rochester. They have played multiple teams in one or two-point matches throughout the season.

2022 Second Team All-Patriot League Jack Selati leads Colgate into battle after playing from court one all season. Selati has played strong throughout the conclusion of the regular season. Selati was named Patriot League Player of the Week back in March after scoring two court-one wins in singles and doubles play.

Tejas Gupta and Benito Vlassis were also named Patriot League Honorable Mentions for their performances throughout the season.

"Hopefully, we will have a big home crowd, come out strong in doubles, and carry the momentum on in singles with a fresh lineup. The last time we hosted in 2018 we had the best season in school history and made a spirited run to the semis and we look to duplicate this" Pennington continued.
