ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Three goals from
Molly Krestinski and 10 saves by
Catie Lang weren't enough for Colgate to overcome No. 24 Navy's big second half in a 15-10 loss Saturday afternoon.
The game was tied 4-4 after one quarter and it was a one-goal Navy lead at halftime 9-8 but the Mids outscored the Raiders 6-2 in the second half to pull away.
Colgate dropped to 2-8 overall and 1-3 in Patriot League play while Navy ran its winning streak to eight, improving to 10-2 on the season and 4-0 in League.
Colgate scored two quick goals to take the early lead after Navy opened the scoring. Krestinski fired a low free-position shot past the Mids keeper before Kyra Lucey found Sarah Marcovici for the one-timer 19 seconds later to give the Raiders their first advantage, 2-1.
Navy scored two unanswered to go back on top and the teams went back and forth through the remainder of the term. Krestinski deposited her second goal before Lucey beat the keeper to send the game to the second quarter tied at 4-4.
Neither side led by more than one goal until Navy opened the second quarter with a 5-0 spurt. Krestinski's hat-trick goal sparked a 4-0 countering surge for the Raiders, who closed within 9-8 at halftime. Caroline Panzirer, Lauren Thompson, and Kait Henning also scored during the run.
