Colgate Blanked by Bucknell, 4-0

Raiders drop their first Patriot League contest of the season

SOUTH WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Colgate women's tennis team saw its three match win streak come to an end with a 4-0 defeat by Bucknell Sunday at the Central PA Tennis Center.

The Bison took an early 1-0 lead after a sweep of the doubles matches.

Bucknell continued its momentum into singles play, notching straight-set victories on the No. 1 and No. 3 courts. At No. 2, Colgate junior Emme Levenson did all she could to give the Raiders a chance; after dropping the first set, Levenson stormed back to win the second. Bucknell's Tyne Miller won a hard-fought third set, 7-5, to clinch the match for the Bison.

"Really tough result for the ladies today. Our top three got off to tough starts in singles but all clawed back, especially Jordan and Emme who had a marathon. I thought it was quite unfortunate that we only had three courts for the match, as Wolf was about to win and would have been curious what Atallah and Maddie could do. We have four regular season matches left and two league matches to prepare for."

Colgate (9-7, 2-1) returns to the court next weekend, first hosting St. Bonaventure in non-conference action on Saturday, April 9 at 2 p.m., and then traveling to Easton, Pa. to face Lafayette for a pivotal Patriot League match-up Sunday, April 10 at 12 p.m.
