HAMILTON – Head coach Damien Prohaska welcomes three newcomers to the women's tennis team. This is the first recruiting class Prohaska has added to the team during his time at the helm.

"This is a very accomplished group joining us this fall and one of the deeper classes we've seen come through this program in some time," said Prohaska. "They each differ in skillset and the strengths they bring to the table, but they share such a high compete level and are also such great people. With a great returning core of players, and an excellent leadership group, I can't wait to see how they'll grow with us this year and help us as we continue to push the standard of Colgate Women's Tennis."

The incoming class features two recruits from New Jersey and New York, and one international student from Alberta, Canada. Mila Montero, a new member to the team, will be joining her sister Sophia Montero, who is a senior with the program.

Daughter of Laura Malaeva and Michael Kurinets…has one brother, Stephan.

Kurinets on choosing Colgate: I chose Colgate University because I wanted the opportunity to play Division I tennis while also attending a school with rigorous academics. Beyond the sport and coursework, I was also ready for a change in scenery. After spending my whole life in New York City, I wanted to experience living and learning outside of a major metropolitan area.

Graduated from Masters Academy & College in 2026...Played club for Aforza for nine years... a two-time Provincial Singles & Doubles champion in U16 and U18... A J30 Barbados Doubles Champion and J60 Edmonton Doubles Finalist...Ranked No. 2 in Provincially (girls U18) and reached career-high singles UTR (8.29)... Selected to represent her province at Indoor & Outdoor Junior Nationals (2023, 2024, 2025)...Named the Most Improved Player in 2025... was a dual sport athlete also competing in badminton and won the Badminton MVP Award.

Born: Jolie Belle Mastre…Daughter of Belinda and Ken Mastre…Has two brothers, Gabriel and Isaac.

Mastre on choosing Colgate: I chose Colgate because I wanted to compete at the Division I level while also learning in a rigorous academic environment. The smaller class sizes also stood out to me, as I went to a smaller high school and really benefited from having a personal connection with most of my teachers and peers. I look forward to contributing to the program and growing as a student-athlete here at Colgate.

M. Montero on choosing Colgate: What led me to choose Colgate was its highly regarded academics. I knew that when I was picking a school I wanted to attend a school that had a reputation for being an academically prestigious school. One thing that I like most about Colgate is the size because it is not too big yet not too small, I believe it to be the perfect size for me. I also enjoyed the tennis team, and easily clicked with the girls on the team.
