Maguire Leads Colgate Charge at Villanova

Maguire Tied for Eighth for Best Finish of the Season

VILLANOVA, Pa. – Jack Maguire captured a top 10 finish and Colgate moved up three spots to tie for ninth place overall in the final round of the Wildcat Spring Invitational on Tuesday.

Maguire's two-round 145 (+5) total landed him in a tie for eighth place, marking his best finish of the season. His previous best was 21st earlier this season at the Carpetbagger Classic. Maguire fired a steady 72-73 in the two-round tournament to finish five-over par.

Coming off his career-low 71 on Monday, Akhil Giri shot a 77 on Tuesday to finish with his lowest two-round total (148) and best finish (T25) of the season behind his 71-77=148 (+8) final. Giri's best career finish was a third place tally last season at the Battle at Troy.

Robbie Herzig finished two strokes back (+10) in a tie for 35th with a 73-77=150 aggregate and Kevin Hollomon was +13 with a 77-76=153 scorecard en route to a tie for 51st place.

Dugan McCabe was Colgate's biggest mover on Tuesday, climbing 17 spots with a one-over-par 71. The sophomore parred 17 holes on the day, with a bogey on the second hole as his only blemish. McCabe's two-day 84-71=155 (+15) placed him in a tie for 61st.

Michael Hanratty finished one shot behind McCabe in a tie for 67th place with a 76-80=156 (+16) final card.

Colgate as a team jumped three spots to ninth at 298-297=595 (+35) composite. Marquette led from start to finish and claimed medalist honors with a 281-285=566 (+6) two-day total.
