First-Year tied for sixth after carding 4-under 68

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – First-year Ronav Benak gave Colgate Golf its second consecutive Patriot League Golfer of the Week honor after finishing tied for sixth at the Matthews Auto Collegiate in Apalachin, N.Y.

Benak fired a career-best 4-under 68 in the final round Monday to finish sixth and help Colgate Golf climb to sixth in the Matthews Auto Collegiate hosted by Binghamton at the Links at Hiawatha. He climbed 19 spots thanks to four birdies against just one bogey in the final round. His two-day total of 141 (-3) served him a top 10 finish in the tournament.

The Tampa, Fla., native led the team for the second time in four tournaments this fall. He helped Colgate jump from 10th to sixth on the team leaderboard, finishing tied with Niagara for sixth with a 588 (+12) aggregate score. The Raiders edged Dartmouth by two strokes for sixth and trailed Le Moyne's 571 aggregate (-5) for fifth.

Benak is Colgate's second consecutive Patriot League Golfer of the Week. Sophomore Alex Hill took home the honors after finishing sixth in the Autumn Invitational Sept. 27-28 in Lake Placid. Colgate closes out the fall portion of the schedule next Sunday-Tuesday for the 54-hole Bucknell Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa.
