URBANA, Md. – Dugan McCabe carded a one-under-par 71 on Sunday to claim sole possession of fifth place on the individual leaderboard in the Battle at Rum Pointe. 

McCabe's one-under 71 tied for the lowest score of the round and moved him up two spots to fifth and firing an even-par 72 in the opening round of Saturday. The sophomore's 72-71=143 (-1) composite finished just three strokes behind Rhode Island's Jordan Brajcich and Cornell's Samuel King, who shared medalist honors with 140 (-4) composite scores. 

The fifth-place finish was McCabe's fourth top five in eight tournaments in 2021-22 and Sunday's one-under-par 71 marked his 10th round of par or better this season. Out of 120 players in the tournament, McCabe was one of seven to shoot par or better on Sunday. 

Akhil Giri, playing as an individual, tied for 38th with a 75-76=151 (+7) total. Kevin Hollomon was Colgate's biggest mover on Sunday, jumping eight spots to finish tied for 43rd at 77-75=152 (+8). Michael Hanratty and Jack Maguire tied for 54th with two-day totals of 153 (+9). 

Colgate finished eighth out of 22 teams competing in this weekend's Battle at Rum Pointe. The Raiders posted a two-day score of 297-304=601 (+25) to claim their second top 10 finish in as many weeks. Rhode Island led wire-to-wire with a 285-290=575 composite.

"While I would've liked to see us make a jump here today, I'm very pleased with our effort as we continue to make progress. To start the spring season with back-to-back top 10 finishes is significant. The conditions were tough, but Dugan played great. We're looking forward to getting back to work and preparing for our next opportunity at Lafayette in two weeks."
