Box Score 2 ALBANY – Following a Friday night rally to defeat the host University of Albany, the Colgate volleyball team dropped a pair of Saturday contests while managing to salvage only one set during the day.
Colgate 0 – Cornell 3 (17-25, 12-25, 13-25)
Cornell used a powerful attack to wear down the Raiders notching 44 kills over the three sets. The Raiders had no answer for the Big Red's power with Cornell hitting at a .327 clip compared to .048 for the Raiders. The Big Red had a slight edge in attack attempts with 109-107, but the Raiders committed 20 attack errors to Cornell's nine.
Colgate 1 – St. John's 3 (18-25, 25-18, 11-25, 16-25)
After dropping the first set, Colgate rallied to play is best game of the day in set number two. The Raiders earned a 12-12 tie on an attack by
Libby Overmyer, and then went on an 8-1 run to take control of the second set. Overmyer served five straight points during the run. Colgate was unable to carry the second set momentum into the third, falling behind early and never able to catch the Red Storm in either of the final two sets.
Overmyer was named to the All-Tournament Team.
